Answer first
What this calculator tells you
Convert between pascals, kilopascals, bar, PSI, atmospheres, mmHg and inches of mercury. Read a tire, gauge or weather figure in the unit the instruction manual uses. Formula: Result = value × (from-unit factor ÷ to-unit factor), factors relative to pascals. At the worked-example inputs, the converted value is 220.6. Holding every other input steady, moving value from 26 to 38 moves the result from 179.3 to 262.

How to interpret the result
Pressure appears in a different unit in nearly every trade. Tires read in PSI, weather in inches of mercury or millibars, engineering in pascals, blood pressure in millimeters of mercury. A tire at 32 PSI is about 220.6 kilopascals. One atmosphere is 14.7 PSI or 101.3 kilopascals, which makes it a handy mental anchor when a gauge reads in an unfamiliar unit. Reference values: one atmosphere is 101.325 kilopascals, 14.696 psi and 760 mmHg, and one bar is 100 kilopascals or about 14.5 psi. A typical car tire at 32 psi is about 2.2 bar.
At the worked-example inputs the converted value is 220.6. It rises with from and value and falls as to increases.
Conversion factors are exact defined constants; results are limited only by floating-point precision, not by real-world estimation.
Before you rely on it
What to check
Note whether the gauge shows gauge pressure or absolute pressure. Gauge pressure ignores the atmosphere, and the difference is about 14.7 PSI.
The common error
Where people go wrong with pressure converter calculator
Assuming a gauge reading is absolute. A tire gauge reads pressure above the air around it, so adding the atmosphere gives a very different number.

How value changes the converted value
Holding every other input at the worked-example value, moving value from 26 to 38 moves the converted value from 179.3 to 262: a spread of 82.7, or 38% of the worked-example result.
| Value | Converted value | 1 unit of "from" in "to" units |
|---|---|---|
| 26 | 179.3 | 6.9 |
| 29 | 199.9 | 6.9 |
| 32worked example | 220.6 | 6.9 |
| 35 | 241.3 | 6.9 |
| 38 | 262 | 6.9 |

Which input moves the converted value most
Of the 3 inputs, to moves the converted value most (220,567.1 across the range tested) and value moves it least (41.4).
| Input | Tested from | To | Converted value at each end | Swing |
|---|---|---|---|---|

Value
Enter the value used in this calculation. The prefilled worked-example value is 32.
From
Unit to convert from. The prefilled worked-example value is PSI.
To
Unit to convert to. The prefilled worked-example value is Kilopascals.
How to use this calculator
- 1Verify the inputs. Gather value, from and to from your own documents; the prefilled values are examples.
- 2Save a baseline. The worked example puts the converted value at 220.6. Store your own version of it as Scenario A.
- 3Test one change. Start with to, the input with the biggest effect here: switching to changes the converted value: pascals gives 220,632.2; kilopascals gives 220.6; bar gives 2.2; PSI gives 32; atmospheres gives 2.2; mmhg (torr) gives 1,654.9.
- 4Check the boundary. Read the interpretation boundary above before acting on the result.

Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate pressure converter?
Result = value × (from-unit factor ÷ to-unit factor), factors relative to pascals. At the worked-example inputs the converted value is 220.6.
What does the pressure converter result mean?
Read a tire, gauge or weather figure in the unit the instruction manual uses. At the worked-example inputs the converted value is 220.6. It rises with from and value and falls as to increases.
How much does value change the converted value?
Holding every other input at the worked-example value, moving value from 26 to 38 moves the converted value from 179.3 to 262, a spread of 82.7.
What are the limits of this pressure converter calculator?
Conversion factors are exact defined constants; results are limited only by floating-point precision, not by real-world estimation. The tables on this page test value only from 26 to 38; a value outside that range is not tabulated here.
Which input moves the converted value most in the pressure converter calculator?
Ranked by how far each moves the converted value across the range tested: to (220,567.1, 99999%), from (108.3, 1470%) and value (41.4, 19%).
How much does from matter in the pressure converter calculator?
The worked example uses PSI. Holding every other input at its worked-example value, switching from changes the converted value: pascals gives 0.032; kilopascals gives 32; bar gives 3,200; PSI gives 220.6; atmospheres gives 3,242.4; mmhg (torr) gives 4.3.
How much does to matter in the pressure converter calculator?
The worked example uses Kilopascals. With the other inputs left at the worked example, switching to changes the converted value: pascals gives 220,632.2; kilopascals gives 220.6; bar gives 2.2; PSI gives 32; atmospheres gives 2.2; mmhg (torr) gives 1,654.9.
Which inputs change the 1 unit of "from" in "to" units in the pressure converter calculator?
At the worked-example inputs it is 6.9. From takes it from 0.001 to 3.4 and to takes it from 6,894.8 to 2.
How many square feet are in an acre?
There are 43,560. The area converter handles it, along with hectares, square miles and the rest.
How do psi, bar and kilopascals compare?
They are different units of the same thing. One bar is about 14.5 psi, and one atmosphere is about 14.7 psi or 101.3 kilopascals.
