Clinical Estimates calculators

Clinical Estimates calculators: Educational estimates for kidney function and blood alcohol concentration. The category holds 9 tools, including the GFR Calculator, the BAC Calculator and the Creatinine Clearance Calculator.

GFR and Creatinine Clearance estimate kidney function from a blood test, Mean Arterial Pressure summarizes blood pressure and Cholesterol (LDL) calculates LDL from a lipid panel. Pregnancy Week, Ovulation, Period and IVF Due Date track reproductive dates from a starting date. Use them to understand a number you already have, and take any result to a clinician. Start with the test result in hand.

Among the tools here are GFR Calculator, BAC Calculator, Creatinine Clearance Calculator, Ovulation Calculator, Pregnancy Week Calculator, Cholesterol (LDL) Calculator, Mean Arterial Pressure Calculator, IVF Due Date Calculator, and 1 more that follow the same pattern of formula, worked example, limits and sources.

CalculatorWhat it answersHeadline outputWorked example
GFR CalculatorA single reading does not diagnose kidney disease. Trends and a clinician's review matter more.Estimated GFR (mL/min/1.73m²)94.6
BAC CalculatorNever use this to judge whether it is safe to drive. Individual metabolism varies and the estimate can be wrong in either direction.Estimated blood alcohol concentration0.055%
Creatinine Clearance CalculatorRead alongside eGFR: the two equations estimate related but not identical measures of kidney function.Estimated creatinine clearance (mL/min)101.7
Ovulation CalculatorUse it to plan around a regular cycle, and confirm timing with a test if the result matters.Estimated ovulation dateSeptember 15, 2026
Pregnancy Week CalculatorMatch the week to the milestones your clinician tracks, then defer to their dating if it differs.Completed weeks20
Cholesterol (LDL) CalculatorRead a panel alongside your clinician's targets, which depend on your history.Estimated LDL (mg/dL)120
Mean Arterial Pressure CalculatorUnderstand a reading in one number, then let a clinician interpret it.Mean arterial pressure (mmHg)93.3
IVF Due Date CalculatorPlan around a due date counted from the transfer, and expect your clinic's dating to be the final word.Estimated due dateFebruary 17, 2027
Period CalculatorPlan around the expected dates, knowing that real cycles can vary by 2 to 3 days from month to month.Next periodOctober 8, 2026

Where people go wrong with clinical estimates numbers

These are educational estimates that rely on formulas fitted to populations, so an individual can differ substantially. A kidney or cholesterol formula can be off in people with unusual muscle mass, diet or medication, and one reading says less than a trend across several. Ovulation and period predictions assume a regular cycle, and a due date is an average, since only a small share of babies arrive on it. Never use a calculator result to change medication or delay care. Estimates inform questions. Doctors give answers.

Clinical Estimates terms

Blood alcohol concentration (BAC) : glossary term
The percentage of alcohol in the bloodstream, estimated by formula from drinks consumed, body weight, sex and elapsed time, or measured directly by breath or blood test.
Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) : glossary term
A measure of how well the kidneys filter blood. It is usually estimated from a blood creatinine level, age and sex. Direct measurement is rare.
Serum creatinine : glossary term
A waste product from muscle metabolism, measured in blood. Most eGFR equations use it as their primary input, because the kidneys are the main route it leaves the body.
Standard drink : glossary term
A reference serving containing a fixed amount of pure alcohol (14 grams in the United States), used to compare drinks of different type and size on a common basis.

Common clinical estimates questions

Can a calculator replace a lab test or a doctor's visit?

No. It gives an educational estimate from the numbers you enter. Only a clinician can read them alongside your history, symptoms and other tests.

Why can a calculated value differ from what my lab reports?

A lab may measure directly where a formula estimates, use a different method or reference range, or round differently. When the two disagree, go with the lab and ask your clinician.

What is a normal range?

A range that most healthy people fall inside, usually the middle 95 percent of a reference group. Sitting just outside it is not automatically a problem, and sitting inside it is not a guarantee.

Is an estimated due date reliable?

Only a small share of babies arrive on the estimated date. Most arrive within a couple of weeks either side. So the date is a midpoint to plan around, not a deadline.

Is the fertile window the same every month?

No. Ovulation timing moves with stress, illness, travel and cycle length, so the window shifts from month to month, even for people with regular cycles.

What is the difference between LDL, HDL and non-HDL cholesterol?

LDL carries cholesterol out to tissues and is the main target for lowering. HDL carries it back toward the liver. Non-HDL is total minus HDL, and it counts every particle that can build up in arteries.

Does my blood pressure change through the day?

Yes. It is usually lower in sleep, rises on waking and moves with activity, stress, caffeine and posture. A few calm readings at the same time of day give a truer picture than one.

How is an IVF due date different from a regular one?

The conception date is known, so it counts from the transfer instead of the last period. The embryo's age at transfer sets the offset, and your clinic's dating takes priority over any calculator.

How far ahead can a period be predicted?

The next period is the most reliable estimate, and each one after it is less certain. Cycles vary by a few days, and the error adds up across several months.

Clinical Estimates calculator questions

What does a GFR result mean?

It estimates how much blood the kidneys filter per minute, and a value below 60 for three months or more can indicate reduced kidney function.

How is mean arterial pressure calculated?

It is diastolic pressure plus one third of the difference between the systolic and diastolic values, and it reflects average pressure driving blood flow.

How is an LDL cholesterol value calculated?

The Friedewald estimate subtracts HDL and one fifth of triglycerides from total cholesterol, and it becomes unreliable when triglycerides are very high.
