How to interpret the result
A countdown crossing a calendar's non-uniform month lengths and leap years doesn't reduce to simple multiplication by 30 or 365, which is exactly why a dedicated day counter gives a more reliable answer than mental arithmetic for anything more than a rough estimate.
Before you rely on it
What to check
Confirm the target date's year is correctly identified, especially for a countdown spanning a leap year, since February's extra day shifts the total by one when it falls inside the counted range.
The common error
Where people go wrong with day counter calculator
Estimating a days-until figure with simple month-times-thirty arithmetic. Real months vary between 28 and 31 days, and that variation compounds into a meaningfully wrong total over anything longer than a few weeks.

Inputs, definitions and assumptions
Target date
From date
Defaults to today.
Where the inputs come from
Enter the target date, such as a wedding, a due date, a deadline or a holiday, and the starting date, which defaults to today. The tool subtracts the two to give the days until the target and the number of weeks. Use it in the days before an event to see how much time is left, or set the starting date to a future date to plan a milestone that comes before the target.
When the result stops applying
Time zones and the time of day are ignored, which matters for a deadline at a specific hour. If the target is in the past, the result is negative. Holidays and weekends are not adjusted.
What to compare it with
Count working days on the business days calculator, see the interval between two other dates on the date difference page, and find the weekday of the target on the day of the week calculator. The add days to date page finds a date from a number of days. The pregnancy week calculator counts weeks of pregnancy.

Frequently asked questions
How many weeks are in a given number of days?
Divide the days by seven. 125 days is 17 weeks and 6 days, or about 17.9 weeks.
Does the countdown include today?
No, it counts the days from today until the target, so it would show one fewer day than counting today as a full day.
Can I use it for a deadline at a specific hour?
Only to the day. For hours, use the time duration calculator with the date and time in mind.
